A proactive approach to oral health

Preventive dentistry focuses on maintaining oral health through regular exams, professional cleanings, and early intervention.

At Integrative Dentistry, prevention looks a little different. We take a fluoride-free, education-first approach that emphasizes understanding why dental issues develop, not just treating them once they appear. For patients with a higher cavity risk due to lifestyle factors, medical conditions, or holistic home care choices, we tailor preventive plans accordingly.

Rather than relying on topical treatments, we focus on frequency, consistency, and patient education to support long-term oral health.

The benefits of preventive dentistry

Earlier detection, simpler care

Routine exams and imaging allow us to identify concerns early, when they’re easier, and often less invasive, to address.

Support without fluoride

Our fluoride-free approach focuses on education, hygiene frequency, and habit awareness rather than applying products to teeth.

Care that adapts to your risk level

Patients with higher caries or periodontal risk often benefit from more frequent visits, which we customize based on individual needs.

Our preventive services

Comprehensive exams

Every preventive visit includes a comprehensive exam of the teeth, gums, head, and neck. We use low-radiation digital X-rays when needed and take intraoral photos so you can clearly see what we see. Dr. Evans reviews all findings with you directly, translating clinical details into clear, meaningful information. This collaborative approach allows you to make informed decisions about your care without pressure.

Routine dental cleanings

Routine dental cleanings are designed for patients with generally healthy gums who want to maintain their oral health in a fluoride-free environment. These visits focus on gently removing plaque and buildup, monitoring changes over time, and reinforcing habits that support long-term health. We take the time to explain what we’re seeing and answer questions as we go, so you leave understanding how your daily routines impact your teeth and gums. For many patients, these visits are an important foundation for staying ahead of dental concerns before they become more complex.

Periodontal care

Periodontal care is recommended for patients with gum disease, bone loss, or higher inflammation levels that require closer monitoring. Many of our patients benefit from three- or four-month periodontal maintenance visits rather than the standard six-month schedule. These appointments focus on managing bacteria below the gumline, supporting gum health, and preventing progression—without relying on fluoride or topical agents. The goal is stability, comfort, and long-term preservation of the teeth and supporting structures.

Oral cancer screenings

Oral cancer screenings are a routine part of preventive care and involve a careful examination of the soft tissues of the mouth, head, and neck. By checking for changes early, we can refer appropriately when needed and support overall health beyond just the teeth. These screenings are quick, noninvasive, and an important part of comprehensive preventive care.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, X-rays are essential for seeing what’s happening beneath the surface. We use low-radiation digital imaging, and the exposure is extremely minimal, especially compared to everyday environmental radiation. They allow us to provide safe, effective care without guessing.

We are a fluoride-free practice and do not apply fluoride or other topical agents to teeth. Instead, we focus on education, hygiene frequency, and understanding the root causes of decay so patients can support their oral health in ways that align with their values.

While some patients do well with six-month visits, many of our patients benefit from three- or four-month hygiene intervals due to higher caries risk, periodontal concerns, or holistic home care choices. We’ll recommend a schedule that fits your individual needs.

Dr. Evans has a compassionate and intuitive approach to dentistry that puts me, a very sensitive patient, at ease. Her genuine commitment to her patients' comfort makes every visit a positive experience.

Dr. Evans is the best!!! I had a tooth chip over the weekend and she got me in first thing Monday to fix it. In addition to her infectious warmth and welcoming demeanor, she is so skilled at what she does. I didn’t even feel the numbing shot and got feeling back quickly after the procedure. She makes going to the dentist a delight!

With Dr. Evans, I don’t feel like a patient, but simply a friend who’s lucky enough to know the best dentist around. Funny, kind and knowledgeable, she’s truly the most amazing there is, both as a person and a professional. I feel so lucky to have found her
